Nowadays, there are so many options available for kitchen worktops, one can get lost. Although there are many materials, one is certain- stones are the most durable ones and are worth investing in them. But it is important to inform about each material before you decide. We have decided to make it a bit easier on you and give you the tips and tricks on how to choose the right kitchen worktops for you.
At Y&S Marble, you can find marble, quartz and granite worktops at competitive prices.
1. Inform about the materials
Each material has its own characteristic it is recognized by. Marble is recognized by the veining it has, while granite is recognized by the granulation. Quartz, as manufactured stone, can have the appearance of both. Quartz is also the only that is non-porous and doesn’t need sealing. Other two should be sealed 1-2 times a year, to make their surface non-porous. Granite and marble are extremely resistant to high temperatures, while quartz can be damaged if exposed to constant high temperatures. All three can be used for other purposes, such as tiles, backsplashes and wall cladding, but quartz is the only one that can’t be used outside.
On the blog section of our website, you can inform about each of the materials.
2. Mix and match
You don’t have to choose just one material for your kitchen, you can mix and match and combine different materials. For example, you can choose marble for the kitchen island and granite for the rest of the cabinets. Just make sure that the colour and textures of the materials are not that different.
3. Visit the showroom
For the best insight in the colours and their texture, we advise visiting the showroom. A colour that you maybe even haven’t noticed watching online swatches can be particularly interesting in person. You can even take samples with you to help you visualize how a certain colour will look with your cabinets.
4. Consider the style
What kind of kitchen do you like? Do you like a classic or more modern style or you want something traditional? Marble is the best choice for classic kitchens, as its beauty is everlasting. Quartz and granite are a good choice for modern style kitchens, especially colours with a few details.
5. Consider the budget
If you have a limited budget, you should know that quartz is generally more affordable then granite and marble. That is not always the case, because prices vary from colour to colour, but on average quartz is the most affordable one.
